Overview of NCC (National Cadet Corps)

National Cadet Corps (NCC) is the military cadet corps of India that has its Headquarter at New
Delhi. It was established in India during the year 1948 and since then, it remains open on
voluntary basis for both college and school students of the country.
NCC is a Tri-Service Group that comprises of Air Force, Army and Indian Navy involved in
grooming of the country’s youth into patriotic, responsible and well-disciplined citizens. Hence,
National Cadet Corps of our country acts as a voluntary organization that recruits cadets from
Universities, colleges and schools from all over India and provides them basic military training
courses in various parades and small arms. Students are called as cadets and allotted rank as per
performance and merit. “B” certificate and “C” Certificate exam is held when the cadet enters
second year and third year of the training.

Objectives of NCC (National Cadet Corps)

NCC works to fulfill the requirements expected in the latest socio-economic scenario in
India.
 The organization aims at development of character, discipline, comradeship, secular
outlook, ideals of selfless services and adventure spirits amongst large numbers of young
citizens.
 NCC aims to create a pool of trained, organized and motivated youth with various
leadership qualities in every walk of their live and serve the Nation irrespective of career
they choose.
 National Cadets Corps also provide a sound environment conductive towards motivating
large numbers of young people of India to join armed forces.

Benefits of NCC (National Cadet Corps)

NCC teaches both unity and discipline as core values. Every individual has to rely on
core values irrespective of the stream or sector he/she choose in life.
 The organization gives an early experience of the way, in which you should act at the
time of staying with others in state through camps.
 Since the camps organized under NCC takes individuals out of their comfort zones, they
play major role in teaching of self-reliance.
 NCC cadets get first hand opportunity to be the part of Indian armed forces, Indian Naval
Forces and Indian Air Forces depending on his/her chosen battalion.

Contribution of Shivalik College of Engineering in respect of NCC activity

NCC is part of our academic activity and military education shapes up the personality of student who hail from civilian background. Military virtues like discipline,punctuality and ready to accept challenges are incorporated among the students as a part of daily routine. Shivalik college of Engineering is dedicated in grooming personality of students by inculcating military environment and develops confidence, patriotic attitude among student. We were awarded best active perfotmance award by Ex Chief Minister of Uttarakhand Shri. Trivendra Singh Rawat on 31st Jan 2020 during felicitation ceremony of republic day camp.

Procedure to formulate NCC Unit in SCE

Common rules formulated by Army/NCC headquarters/local NCC head office will be followed
by the college administration
 In addition, internal rules, regulations and policies shall be formulated by the highest authority of
the college/institution (The management of the Institution) and shall be put up to the governing
Council members.
 A suitable person (Faculty of SCE) shall be selected, who must in turn drive the NCC Unit ably
in proper direction by abiding the objectives of the management of the institution.

Conduction of NCC meetings

 Regular meeting from time to time will be held with involvement of the caretaker.
 Minutes of meeting will be prepared for the same.

Conduction of NCC activities

 Informal meetings shall be conducted in NCC office before execution of any event.
 Recruitment drive of cadets will be conducted as per direction of local NCC office.\
 Drill, Physical fitness will be conducted on regular basis or as per the direction of NCC head
office/Army/Local head Office.
 Schedule of drill (in college premises) shall be decided as per the direction of the head of the
Institution and members of the council.
 With consent of the Director and HODs of all departments the final plan shall be approved.
 Event shall be conducted as per the direction of Army/NCC Headquarter/Local administration.
 NCC camps shall be conducted once or twice in a year, or as per the direction of the local
authority/NCC Head office/Army.
 An event file along with report and photographs shall be submitted to the authority after the
completion of every event.
 A separate attendance register of cadets will be maintained by the caretaker for official
record purpose.

Recruitment System

 Selection of fresh candidate (both boys and girls) at college level will be done by the NCC
caretaker with consent of head of the institution and management.
 Written test, Physical Fitness test will also be conducted as per the direction of the NCC head
office.

Reforming of Objectives, Roles and Responsibility

 At any point of time the objectives, roles and regulations may be changed based on the
requirement.

Financial Aid

As the NCC unit of the college is running under self- finance scheme, all the expenses shall be
borne by the college itself.
