EV Modeling Workshop: MATLAB-Based Simulation & Control

Workshop Session

The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering and Department of Mechanical Engineering, Shivalik College of Engineering, Dehradun, successfully conducted a five days hands-on workshop on “EV Modeling: MATLAB-Based Simulation and Control of Electric Vehicles” in collaboration with Ensino Research and Development Pvt. Ltd. The workshop was led by Er. Ashok Kumar, an industry expert with 12+ years of experience in MATLAB, IoT, Embedded Systems, and EV technologies.

The workshop introduced students to MATLAB basics and covered Simulink-based modeling of EV systems, including vehicle dynamics, motor control, and battery simulation. Students acquired skills in simulation, control, and system design, aligning with industry needs. These skills are in demand at companies like Tesla, BMW, Siemens, ABB, MathWorks, and Ola Electric.

At the closing ceremony of the workshop, Dean Academics, Dr. Kuntal Barua, addressed the participants and applauded the departments for successfully organizing such a relevant and impactful workshop for the students. He highlighted the importance of skill-based workshops in bridging the gap between academia and industry demands.

The event was further graced by esteemed guests including Dean Student Welfare, Prof. Surmadhur Pant, Examination Controller, Prof. U.C. Gupta, and Head of Mechanical Engineering Department, Mr. Ajay Verma, who shared their insights and appreciated the collaborative efforts of the department. The faculty members Mr. Ashish Gupta, Ms. Shabnam Ara, Mr. Kuldeep, Mr. Yashender, Mr. Mukul, Mr. Vikas Mahar, Ms. Ankita, Ms. Mohini, and Dr. Sono Bhardwaj were present during the closing ceremony.

The workshop concluded on a high note with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Abhishek Sharma, Head of the ECE Department, who thanked the honorable Vice Chairman Sh. Ajay Kumar and Director-Engineering Dr. Prahlad Singh for their continuous support. He also expressed his gratitude to the organizing team, resource person, and participants for making the event a grand success.
