About CBII (Centre of Business Incubation and Innovations)

Shivalik College, Dehradun proudly launched the Center of Business Incubation and Innovations (CBII) in 2022, a pioneering initiative to nurture aspiring entrepreneurs. It is recognized and registered with MSME, Government of India. The CBII is running with a vision to cultivate an environment conducive to young entrepreneurs, emphasizing innovation, sustainability, and social relevance. It is designed to support the creation, incubation, and successful operation of innovative businesses that prioritize societal and environmental impact. Based on its work and progress, the Uttarakhand Startup Council, Directorate of Industries, Government of Uttarakhand has recognized the successful journey of CBII in 2023 and sanctioned financial support to expand it’s wings further.

About iHUB Shivalik

Shivalik College has tied up with IIT Roorkee in year 2022, and launched iHUB Shivalik, an Spoke of iHUB DivyaSampark, IIT Roorke. The Shivalik College is working in mission mode to provide business development assistance, by ensuring the availability of infrastructure, mentorship, and training support and above all, the entrepreneurial culture among the students in the campus.

Mr. Ajay Kumar Verma is a trailblazer in fostering innovation, entrepreneurship, and industry-academia collaboration. As the Associate Dean at the Center of Business Incubation and Innovations (CBII) and the Head of both the Mechanical and Civil Engineering Departments, he plays a pivotal role in shaping the future of technology-driven enterprises at Shivalik Campus.

As the founding CEO of iHUB Shivalik, a spoke of iHUB Divya Sampark, IIT Roorkee, Mr. Verma has been instrumental in building an entrepreneurial ecosystem that bridges academia with cutting-edge technological advancements. His leadership extends to spearheading the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) as its President, an initiative recognized by the Ministry of Education, Government of India. Through his efforts, he has successfully organized numerous government-sponsored programs aimed at nurturing student and faculty entrepreneurship.
A passionate advocate of hands-on learning, Mr. Verma serves as a permanent Mentor of Change for the Atal Tinkering Lab, under the Atal Innovation Mission, Government of India. His commitment to fostering creativity and problem-solving has empowered countless young minds to develop innovative solutions for real-world challenges.

Mr. Ajay Kumar Verma

Associate Dean at the Center of Business Incubation and Innovations (CBII)

With over 19 years of experience in academia and research, Mr. Verma specializes in Bearing Fault Diagnosis, Mechanics of Machines, Tribology, and Mechanical Vibrations. His prolific contributions to research include 17+ publications in esteemed journals and conferences, along with his role as a Principal Investigator in government-funded research projects. His expertise is widely recognized, serving as a reviewer for top-tier journals and conferences.

His passion for innovation extends to intellectual property, having successfully published 14+ patents, demonstrating his commitment to translating research into tangible technological advancements.

Beyond research and innovation, Mr. Verma is dedicated to capacity building. He has organized and participated in numerous Faculty Development Programs (FDPs), Student Development Programs (SDPs), and Short-Term Training Programs (STTPs), empowering the next generation of educators, researchers, and industry professionals.

His unwavering commitment to innovation, research excellence, and entrepreneurial leadership makes him a driving force in shaping the future of education and industry collaboration.

Sustainability & Revenue Generation Model

Our incubation center will operate in a lean and efficient manner, focusing on delivering value to clients, stakeholders, and the community. The sustainability model aims to create a long-term self-sufficient ecosystem that generates wealth and supports the local economy.

An incubation agreement will be established between the stakeholders, including the following revenue streams:

🔹 Income from Client Enterprises

The center will charge incubatee companies for infrastructure, services, seed loans, service charges, and may also receive equity shares.

🔹 Returns through Equity

Sharing in the client’s success through equity value appreciation or royalty on gross sales. A predefined equity portion will go to CBII and mentors. Startups are required to select a faculty mentor, with an option to choose from the industry as well.

🔹 Seed Loan & IP

Revenue will be generated from seed loan charges, intellectual property rights, and potential donor contributions.

🔹 Consultancy Services

Monetized through the in-house accelerator team offering consulting to startups and external clients.

🔹 Educational Programmes

Workshops, seminars, and conferences will generate additional revenue while providing learning opportunities.

Note: The initial equity from CBII will be fully utilized to create infrastructure like laboratories, analytical tools, sector-specific resources, and for organizing ideathons, workshops, and seminars.

Start-Up Activities at Shivalik College

Shivatech-2024: 15 November 2024

The Institution Innovation Council of Shivalik College – (CBII), iHUB Shivalik – organised an impactful event on 15 November 2024. In Shiva-Tech 2024, 12 different events were organised with the aim of providing researchers and students present innovative solutions to industrial and societal problems integrating technology. Different events included Project Demonstration, Working Model in Pharmacy & Health, Highway to Hell, LAN Gaming – Free Fire & VGMI, Code Hunt, Building Bridge, Tower Making, Best Out of Waste, Wrestling Machine, Business Model Presentation, Lego Assembly & Race, Logo Making, and Digital Logic Design. The event had participation from 250+ students from different institutes.

Hackathon- 2024

The Incubation Center of Shivalik College, CBII and iHUB Shivalik organised Hackathon 2024 with a vision to generate high-value, actionable business ideas and product concepts. The event was organised to foster a spirit of entrepreneurship among young minds. More than 300 students from 63+ teams participated in this collaborative technical event, proposing solutions to industrial and social problem statements. The event had participation from various institutes, including colleges and universities, from regions students of Uttarakhand, UP, and the NCR region. During the event, the participating teams built actionable business ideas and product concepts by working relentlessly for 30 hours.

Science Championship 3.0

On November 16, 2024, Shivalik College of Engineering, in collaboration with USERC, organized Science Championship 3.0. The highlight of the program was the innovation and brilliance of young minds. The event had diverse participation from different reputed schools, both private and public. The projects and models based on themes of science, society, and environment proved that the next generation is so close to scientific excellence. The event hosted more than 80 schools, 180 teams, and over 800 students. With an innovative theme, the event focused on themes of Science, Society, and Environment. The event was designed to instill a deep passion for technology and broadening scientific knowledge.

Hand-on Training on 2D & 3D Modeling on A AUTODESK AUTOCAD

The students received hands-on training in 2D & 3D Modeling in AUTODESK AUTOCAD. AutoCAD is a computer-aided design (CAD) software developed by Autodesk in various industries, including architecture, interior design, drafting, mechanical, electrical, and civil engineering. The VAC was an initiative to equip the students with various topics in 2D & 3D Modeling. The training included all the key areas like introduction to AUTOCAD, drawing fundamentals & editing tools, precision drawing techniques, layer management, advanced tools & techniques, and best practices & tips to build a solid foundation. Students gained practical skills, boosting their confidence for real-world applications and career.

Uttarakhand Global Investors Summit (08th - 09th December 2023)

The Government of Uttarakhand, India, organised the Global Investors Summit at Forest Research Institute, Dehradun, on 08th – 09th December 2023. The event was graced by the presence of key dignitaries, including Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi JI, Chief Minister Shri Pushkar Singh Dhami Ji, and Union Home Minister Shri Amit Shah Ji. The students from Shivalik College attended the workshop and gained insights into establishing businesses and collaborative strategies. In addition, the students gained an understanding of economic impact and the Government’s role in business. The event covered key areas like Healthcare, Pharma, Education, Real Estate, Tourism, Hospitality, and Manufacturing.

Motivational Session by Successful Entrepreneur Start-up Founder

An insightful session led by Mr Roshan Singh, Founder & CEO of Scroll Well, was organised to motivate the young minds. The motivational session aimed at understanding impactful problem-solving approaches. In addition, the students also learned to analyse problems and develop strategic solutions. In the session, the students further gained insights into the benefits and challenges of innovation and product design. The lecture with Mr Roshan Singh provided future leaders the information on how entrepreneurs drive economic growth and innovation. Sharing his entrepreneurial journey, he emphasised how entrepreneurs contribute to economic growth and drive innovation that reshapes industries.

Hand-on and Live Project Based Training

The Institution Innovation Council, Shivalik College of Engineering, in collaboration with CBII and iHUB Shivalik, organised a Hands-on and Live Project-Based Training workshop from 11th June to 9th July 2024. Conducted by Dr Shailendra Singh, Sr. R&N (Head), Cloud Education Pvt. Ltd., Delhi, the workshop provided 120 students with practical exposure to key technologies. The training covered Python coding, data analysis, machine learning (classification & model building), and deep learning (ANN, CNN). By engaging in real-world projects, students enhanced their problem-solving, creative thinking, and technical application skills, reinforcing theoretical concepts through hands-on experience.
