PROFILE
Prof. (Dr.) Tejinder Singh Sidhu is a distinguished academic leader, researcher, and institution builder with over 35 years of experience in technical education, including 19 years as Director and Professor. He currently serves as Director of Shivalik College of Engineering, Dehradun, and has previously held key leadership positions as Director of SBS State University, Ferozepur; BCET Gurdaspur; GZSCET Bathinda; and BHSBIET Lehragaga. Throughout his career, he has demonstrated exceptional administrative acumen, academic vision, and commitment to institutional excellence.
Dr. Sidhu earned his Ph.D. from IIT Roorkee in 2006 with Grade A+, completing it in a record time of two years and four months, for which he received formal appreciation from the institute. He was also conferred the prestigious Best Ph.D Award by NACE International (USA). He holds an M.E. in Mechanical Engineering from Panjab University, Chandigarh, an MBA from Punjabi University, Patiala, and a B.E. in Mechanical Engineering from Panjab University.
Over the years, Dr. Sidhu has played a transformative role in institutional governance and development. He successfully led the upgradation of an engineering college to State University status and significantly enhanced student intake from 380 to 1,370. He implemented ERP-based academic and administrative systems to ensure transparency and efficiency, secured NBA accreditation for five B.Tech programs in a single cycle, and achieved NAAC accreditation along with UGC Autonomous status. He effectively implemented the TEQIP-II project with funding of ₹10 Crore and secured an additional ₹5 Crore grant from MHRD, Government of India. His leadership has consistently strengthened industry–institute interaction, research culture, outcome-based education practices, and quality assurance mechanisms.
An accomplished researcher, Dr. Sidhu has published 174 research papers, including 99 in reputed journals and 75 in conference proceedings. He has an H-index of 29 with over 3000 citations, secured sponsored research projects worth ₹11.05 Crore, guided seven Ph.D scholars successfully, and holds one granted patent (2023). His international academic exposure includes academic visits to Harvard Business School, Stanford University, MIT Boston, National University of Singapore, University of Toronto, McGill University, University of British Columbia, University of Calgary, and NJIT New Jersey.
Dr. Sidhu has received several prestigious recognitions, including the Best Ph.D Award from NACE International (2007), Outstanding Institute Award from NITTTR (2014 and 2015), Best Green Campus Award from the Government of Punjab (2016), and a Best Paper Award at an international conference. His leadership philosophy is rooted in academic excellence, transparent governance, NEP-2020 alignment, research-driven growth, and continuous institutional improvement. He remains committed to strengthening technical education through innovation, quality enhancement, digital transformation, and strategic academic planning to position institutions among the top national rankings.
