Passing Criteria for 12th Board Students

  1. Students must achieve a grade higher than E (minimum 33% marks) in all five external exam subjects, either in the main exam or via compartment exams.
  2. For internal assessment subjects (e.g., General Studies, Work Experience, Physical Education), a grade higher than E is needed unless exempted; failure here withholds external results for up to one year.
  3. Subjects with practicals demand 33% in theory, 33% in practicals, and 33% aggregate to qualify.

Grading System

External exams use numerical scores plus nine-point letter grades (A1 to D2 for passed candidates, E for fail), derived by ranking passed students into eight equal groups.

Compartment and Improvement

  • Failing one external subject (while passing internals) places a student in a compartment; up to three chances are available (July/August, March/April, next July/August).
  • Passed students can reappear once the next year for improvement in up to all subjects, retaining practical marks if previously passed; only a marks statement is issued.

Good Luck! Stay tuned for more updates.
